Erosion (2. Edition)

The second edition of the finest geology game ever produced.

designer: John Douglass Ph.D.

player: 2-5
age: 10+
playing time: 30 min

Erosion

It’s fun and takes a half hour to play. Comes with a set of cards plus rules in a clamshell case.
The students assume the role of mountains, uplifting theirs while eroding their opponents. The player with the highest mountain at the end of the game wins.
This 2nd edition adds an Introductory game, with the basics of sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks, and their role in mountain-building and erosion. Additional rules introduce fossils, fluvial (river) processes for washing rocks into the sea, and river deltas. The advanced rules demonstrate how mountain-building and erosion control Earth’s climate and atmosphere.

“An unassuming card game from Sierra Madre Games. This has got to be one of the most interesting and best card games I own. The theme may be fascinating to some and dull to others, but the gameplay is tense, thought provoking and thoroughly engaging. Truly an excellent little game that punches well above it’s weight. It is rare to get such a big game from such a small package, but Erosion does it with style. Probably best with 2 or 3 to begin with, and after experience with 4, this is a deep little game with plenty of interlocking facets. Well worth a look in my view!”
