FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Which cards can you play outside your own turn?
Answer:
1.) Vampire Hunters (and their assistant) may be played together with the necessary number of wooden stakes anytime.
2.) The Book, Holy Water, and the Crucifix may only be played outside your turn as a defense if you are attacked. The Book may be played as a defense against a Good Opportunity. Holy Water and the Crucifix may be played in order to prevent a Good Opportunity and a Robbery. In order to play Holy Water and the Crucifix as a defense, you must have a Priest in your Castle.
3.) All other cards may only be played during your own turn.

Variant: "Rest In Peace" for a shorter game.

In this variant, remove the Angel from the Village deck.
Completely drained victims (dead and in a Tomb) can not come back into the game.
If the Escape card is played, the victims don't flee back to the Village but, rather, are simply placed on the discard pile.

If you desire a still shorter game, remove some or all of the Villagers of value 1-3 from the Village deck.
I strongly discourage against removing the Unrest, since it can be so effective at changing the fortunes of the leading players.
